Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about using Garimi.

Does anything really avoid being sent to a server?

The original text, mapping table and AI reply you paste into the workspace are processed in browser memory — never sent to a Garimi server or to any outside AI API.
Ordinary HTTP request information needed to load the site may still be processed as part of hosting.

Does it find every piece of personal information?

No. Even formats with a fixed shape have exceptions, and names, companies and addresses can be missed or wrongly flagged depending on context.
You always need to review the result yourself before you rely on it.

Can I recover my work after refreshing the page?

No. Garimi doesn't auto-save the original text or the mapping table, so refreshing or closing the tab means it's gone for good.
Copy anything you need to keep before you finish the session.

Does Garimi send the text to ChatGPT or Claude for me?

No. You copy the replaced text yourself and paste it into whichever AI service you're using.
That service's own privacy and data-use policy is separate, and you should check it yourself.

What if a token comes back changed in the AI's reply?

An exact token is restored automatically.
One that comes back slightly altered is shown as a candidate for you to confirm before restoring it.
An ambiguous one is left as-is rather than exposing the original automatically.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Garimi is a tool you open and use right away — no sign-up and no personal information required.

What kind of information can it detect?

Structured formats such as mobile and landline phone numbers, email, Korean/US ID-number shapes, IBAN, card numbers, IP addresses and secret values inside URLs, plus context candidates for name, company, customer, project, address, amount and date.
See the detection guide for details.

Can it mask images and PDFs too?

Yes. In File mode you can open an image (PNG, JPEG, WebP) or PDF, review what was auto-detected,
and drag to mask anything it missed yourself.
A masked file has its pixels changed permanently, so it cannot be undone.
